Anhedonia

Standing in front of the fridge, eating cold scrambled eggs…

Compromise, compromise - I repeat.
It isn't that hard, it must'nt be.
Avoid greater trouble, just breathe.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Leave it there, can't focus right now.

Everyone is taking it differently,
Faking it or not; everyone seems to have it more easy.
Ease, ease, ease…
Please, please, please.
Maybe a cup of tea, maybe a bit of this.
Hello, are you even listening? -- No.
But still, I take a sip.
I look at myself,
A beggar; I silently beg.
I keep it to myself.
I ruminate and do; I soon will regret.
Putting a stop to a whirl,
An unforeseen stop - Kept me still;
Howbeit my reckoning, revolves.
My reckoning is ill.

Why didn’t I let you know earlier?

We are all allowed to have our views on things, situations, people. When it comes to people, we often fear being completely blunt with them. We ignore that storing thoughts and feelings makes it harder to keep moving forward in a relationship (of any kind, not only romantic). Bottling up makes the other person unaware of what goes through your mind, whether it’s positive or negative. Hardest part of keeping it to yourself is when you don’t get the chance to let someone know important facts: it builds up within you, ‘what if’s’ come up at night to remind you how time goes by…

All this blogging thing is just an exercise for myself: I want to stop feeling ashamed for being vulnerable. We all are, but some of us keep this tough façade as a way of surviving. Here I’m gonna share things I’ve never had the chance to say.

  • Life would have been different if I really knew your intentions…
  • I am deeply sorry.
  • I took it personally at first but you made me grow.
  • I still think and dream of you, I wish things were as they used to be, but we had our due date. Thank you for the times you stood by me.
  • You’ve let them take over you…
  • We all get what we deserve.
  • I’ve known you for years… But I still don’t know who you are…
  • You make me uncomfortable, yet I think you are special.
  • I thought I could trust you.

Ambition

Why can’t I be as ambitious as everyone else?

I asked myself this question after I defended my undergraduate thesis. Everyone around me seemed to have a super-straight notion of their goals and how they to reach them. For me everything that came after doing a degree – felt and still feels – like a blur.

I overworked my way through my degree. Was it worth it? Yes and no. I missed on many important things because of my obsession with being the best (which I never did accomplish because it never felt enough). I did get very good grades and managed to build a strong CV but I never felt satisfied. Dissatisfaction brought doubt and confussion.

I have found that some people feel the very same way I do, which is relieving and makes me feel less worried about it. Sharing thoughts and exchanging ideas helps me put things in perspective. But there are also people around me that overestimate the ‘achieving and producing’ phase of any professional. People always consider those that pile up in work and/or study, as more ‘capable of’ and people underestimate those who don’t.

In the end, the only thing that matters is being comfortable with who you are and what you want, having in mind that your value is not measured by your productivity and drive, but by what you are as a person, and that things will eventually sort out in your favor.

Changes

Why do we struggle when we’re facing changes?

I could affirm that changes are as frequent as waves; they will eventually get to you, whether you find yourself ready to face them or not. So why are we reluctant of them?

I wish I could give one simple answer to my question; but I guess for this short note, I’ll just blame it all in fear. We struggle in life mainly because we fear… If you really think about it, when we cling on to things/people/situations, we start struggling. Whenever you cling onto something; it ends up in major suffering.

Letting anything be as it is (it’s difficult, I know), releases you.

Kungfused?

I bet you must feel a bit Kungfused on why the name and what this blog will be about. The name/pun was suggested by a very clever friend (thank you Pope!), who upgraded my old instagram name and made it more witty and fun. I plan on posting various topics that move me: science, politics, philosophy, sustainable fashion, psychology, music, thoughts and opinions on almost anything.

I hope this feels less kungfusing as write posts…
